(Suite of Educational/Training/OD Resources)
This is a comprehensive, in-depth suite of organization-wide development and performance enhancement resources. As you will see from reviewers’, academicians’, and practitioners’ comments (People’s Comments), this practical management system is, as some have said, beyond what anyone else has ever developed....or even envisioned.
As shown in the two-page Table of Contents, the system (package) of 1,300 spreadsheet and pdf files goes much further than anything else out there in at least these ten very significant and important ways:
1. The system’s 30 booklets (manuals) not only cover the “what and why” of performing management and leadership functions more extensively than many if not most MBA programs, but they also go on to outline “how to” perform them more effectively and efficiently.
2. The manuals contain 380 (computerized) printable and projectable general management and leadership education/training figures, tables, and exhibits!
3. The package provides computerized versions of these booklets in both both MS-Excel and PDF formats.
4. Not only do the manuals explain the “what, why, and how to” of management/leadership functions, but they also clearly describe “how to” to use many practical tools associated with each function—i.e., analyzing, goal setting, planning, budgeting, formulating policies/rules/procedures, decision making, organizing, staffing, guiding activities, and controlling (reporting and evaluating results and performance).
5. The package also provides more than 260 computerized professional tools, many of which are do-it-yourself fill-ins and are self-calculating! The tools include comprehensive, detailed, three- to eight-level outlines (checklists) of factors to analyze with respect to marketing, finance, production/operations, organizational behavior, and the business environment. The marketing and organizational behavior checklists contain more numerous and more detailed factors to analyze than one would cover in two years of B-school courses (or cases) in those areas. There is also a computerized and printable outline of Strategic (and Annual) Planning Phases and Steps—with references to pages in the various manuals that explain the “what, why, and how to.”
6. It presents The Managerial Target®, the only model in the world that relates levels (of groups) of personal characteristics to an individual’s tendency to use a particular managerial or leadership style. One of the most noted psychometricians called it “ingenious,” because no one else had ever been able to figure out how to do it. In fact, some so-called “experts” have claimed that it couldn’t be done.
7. The final booklet of the series and the last chapter of the re-titled Wiley book both tie together more than 100 major concepts, models, methods, and sets of practices into an innovative Unified Practice of Management™ (UPoM™) model that shows how they all can be used most effectively and synergistically—either sequentially or together. Several professors have called it a “Field Theory of Management,” because it (a) puts so much into a clear, meaningful, and useful perspective, and (b) provides a big-picture framework for better understanding and assimilating any new management concepts and methods.
8. As shown toward the top of the Table of Contents, there are a number of “contextual” user interfaces that people can launch in order to access the various sets of associated (a) computerized manuals (b) education/training models, figures, tables, and exhibits, and (c) practical do-it-yourself tools.
9. The entire package could be sold as an MBA-level resource for those who cannot afford to get an MBA. In other words, it amounts to an “MBA on a Disc” (or USB drive). And totalling about 530 megabytes, the manuals and tools are portable enough for someone to keep handy on their laptop. In addition, B-schools might well provide the entire package of these practical resources to their graduates to take with them into the “real world.”
10. Also very important, the entire package is a comprehensive (yet scalable), fully integrated, and participative MD/OD program. The 30-booklet series could be used by management trainers, while Next-Generation Management, Leadership, and Organization Development (condensed from the series), could be used by students and seminar participants.
Important note: R.D.Cecil and Company now owns all rights to N-GML&OD, which was formerly published by John Wiley & Sons. In addition, we also have (a) the chapters’ pdf files, all of which are in the Strategic Management & Leadership System™ package, and (b) the Quark files used to print the Wiley book (which, again, is retitled).
We are virtually certain that no one else has anything like, or even close to, this fully-developed, comprehensive, in-depth, and highly integrated Strategic Management & Leadership System™. If you doubt it, please read the enclosed Comments by Academicians and Practitioners—including professors at B-schools such as Harvard, Penn State, USC Marshall, and Chicago Booth, who actually took the time to look at some of these materials. (By the way, R.D. Cecil and Company published and sold thousands of copies of three of the booklets for use as college texts for nearly twenty years.) In addition, an enclosure describes our Innovative Concepts, Models, Methods, and Tools.
The company's founder and principal, Robert D. Cecil, is the primary author of the book, Next-Generation Management, Leaderhip, and Organization Development: The Complete Guide and Resource. The book was condensed/excepted from the original 30-booklet management series. It contains The Managerial Target® model and the Unified Practice of ManagementTM model, the latter of which illustrates a unified field theory of more than 100 management concepts, models, and practices, showing how they all fit toigether and can be ustilized in a more synergistic manner than ever before. The book also describes many of the concepts, methods, and tools listed on the Management Tools page. These include what we now call zero-base systems analysis (ZBSA) methods and tools, which develop both qualitative information bases (of tacit information) and diagrammatic knowledge bases (DKBs) that involve information visualization architecture. This book was initially published by the Pfeiffer imprint of John Wiley & Sons in 2007. All rights are now owned by R.D. Cecil and Company.
This book covers concepts, principles, and methods for developing or improving eight of the most important life (coping) skills. What’s so exceptionally unique and special about it? It integrates all the concepts, models, methods, and practices into a step-by-step, building block system that (a) promotes and enables mutual, synergistic complementarity and reinforcement among self-awareness, personal motivation, thinking (i.e., problem solving and decision making), learning, interpersonal relations, communication, behavior modification, and time management), and (b) presents one basic but adaptable methodology for all of them (instead of having to learn and use a different methodology for each).
It also (a) anticipates and describes a “mind-technology spiral” and (b) explains why the mind is the “ultimate weapon for war” but also the “ultimate instrument for peace.”
This updated version, which is easily three times as good as the original, has been rewritten largely for high school (but even 6th-8th grade) students, who would take a course with at least one parent (who studies the manual with the child so that he or she is able to reinforce the child’s learning at home). Students each get a book. Parents get their own copy or copies. And the teacher/instructor has a copy. Even teachers and students in university education programs might use this reference. That could add up to many books, especially if the book were promoted successfully. For example, Maltz’s Psycho-Cybernetics (back in the 1960s) flopped when first published. But an entrepreneur bought the rights and promoted it intensively. It became a best seller!
Several important points:
1. This book (manual) is so important that someone who has the wherewithal should pick it up and run with it. Why is itso important? Because teenagers aren’t learning how to: (a) understand themselves in beneficial detail (in terms of many specific traits and their cause-effect interrelationships); (b) do the personal motivation (goal setting and planning) that enables them to begin planning and managing their own lives to a greater extent; (c) structure their own learning, thinking, and communication situations; (d) better understand and interact more effectively with others; (e) better manage their time and effort; and (f) use all of the associated knowledge and skills in a far more integrated, synergistic manner than any other book has ever described. The book is also written for (a) self-improvers, and (b) the many people who have never been exposed to anything like this synergistic system, and, therefore, are not coping very well with life’s trials and tribulations—or even opportunities. Simultaneously promoting the book to both student/parent/teacher and self-improvement market segments could create a “ratchet effect” through which sales in one segment spurs sales in the others.
2. This comprehensive and in-depth work can aptly be called a “manual” because it not only presents the textbook concepts and principles (the “what” and “why”) of developing various knowledge and skills, but it also goes on to outline “how to” continuously acquire and reinforce knowledge, acquire and further develop skills, and modify certain traits. It does all the above using 95 figures, tables, and exhibits!
3. In addition to describing needs/drives, knowledge factors, skills, personality traits, and interests, Chapter 2 (The Individual: A System of Characteristics) covers three frames of reference concerning values—including the six values covered in the Alport, Vernon, Lindzey Study of Values.” (At one time the SOV was the third largest-selling psychological measurement instrument.) Those six values appear later in Chapter 6 (Interpersonal Relations), which describes an interpersonal styles model, The Interpersonal Target™. R.D. Cecil's name is now on the SOV’s copyright, because he helped to rewrite much of it. Because of that fact, we have no doubt that the other copyright owners could be persuaded to permit the inclusion of the computerized version of the test on a CD-ROM accompanying the book. With that test’s results, the user could fill in the computerized version of The Interpersonal Target™, which is self-calculating and could also be on the CD-ROM, to see the implications for his or her tendency to use a particular interpersonal (and managerial or leadership) style.
4. Five chapters in this book were also in the book, Next-Generation Management Development, published by John Wiley & Sons in 2007. (It has been retitled Next-Generation Management, Leadership, and Organization Development for a number of reasons.) Therefore, those chapters have already undergone both development and copy editing. The same chapters were excerpted or condensed from the 30-booklet management series, several booklets of which largely came from the original version of Psycho-Synergistics.
5. If it were believed that more copies of the book could get to more people who need or could use it, we are willing to discuss having a Ph.D. co-author. But due to experience, we would insist on several conditions.
6. This manual has already been formatted and made “camera ready” for printing—e.g., as a manual/workbook in a 3-ring binder.
This is a computerized and very handy MS-Excel spreadsheet that presents 3,700 historical events (by year, starting with the Big Bang and going down to 2018) across five columns (for five categories of that year’s events) and 7,300 rows or lines. [See the one-page description (a pdf file) and the sample screenshot.(also a pdf file).] We also developed British and Canadian versions. Those three spreadsheets could be (a) used in grades 6 through 12 of three countries' school systems (as one large Illinois school system wanted to do), (b) used in college history and social studies courses, and (c) sold in print versions.
E. Economic Development Planning Resources (for Counties and Municipalities)
This a suite of (a) checklists (outlines) of factors and phenomena to analyze; (b) a detailed database template, which, when data is filled in, automatically generates many graphs; (c) other fill-in tools; and (d) drag and drop goals and plans statements for developing a goals and plans document. It is advisable to use the think-work (strategic planning) manuals of the management series along with these materials.
This is a nearly completed book that describes around 600 psychological maneuvers and the strategies that people often use to dominate, persuade, intimidate, and manipulate others. After describing what people should be looking out for, it pointedly outlines many counter-measures that people can use to defend themselves.
You may well be asking yourself, "Why would anyone want to sell all these materials?" The answer: Having taken about 40 full-time to develop all these materials, I (a) am retiring, and (b) no longer have the the resources to take all of them where they have the potential to go—or to help all those who could benefit from using them. Therefore, I would sell all the ownership rights to a qualified individual or organization that has the human and financial resources to successfully “run with them”—for somewhat less than the $2.5-$6 million (or so) that I have invested in time and expenses.
